Ecological Organizations in Azerbaijan

The Foundation was founded on 10-th of September 1999. A Board consisting of 3 persons was formalized and Razi Nurullayev was elected a President of the Foundation. All the documents required for the registration were prepared and submitted to the Ministry of Justice. Several centres were created at the Foundation and new ones are being created. For expanding its scope of activity the Foundation closely cooperates with the leading Non-govermental Organizations such as: The Foundation of the Development of Democracy, Women's Rights Protection Society named after D.Aliyeva, National Democracy Foundation, The Entrepreneurship Development Foundation etc. Prviously, the Foundation held  charity event on the 6-th of November, 1999, the 30-th anniversary of the late Ulvi Bunyatzada who perished in the bloody 20-th January struggle for democracy, human rights and independence of the country. Later the 19-th of November another event, a presentation of a very famous book «Intellegentsia» took place in a Nizami Museum. On the first of December the Foundation held a round table talk with the participation of 35 people on the subject «Democracy and Human Rights» in the Resource Centre for Human Rights. Another round table talk held on December 14, 1999, by the foundation was on the subject of “Dissidents and Political Emigrants are the most deprived people in the world”. The next round table talk was “From National Solidarity to National Unity” held on 29 December 1999.

The activity of the Foundation is based on the constitution and existing legislation of the Azerbaijan Republic, on international legal norms and is directed for the implementation of different projects, programs and packages of proposals aimed at the solving of existing problems in society.
So far the foundation has prepared several projects and referred them to some Foundations and organizations. The name of the projects prepared: 1) The Study of Iran-Azerbaijan Relatinships, 2) The Role of Peace and Stability in the Caucusus, 3) The Dialogue on Problems of Ethnic Minorities, 4) The Democracy and Human Rights in Iran, 5) The Independent Youth Center, 6) The Role of Ecological Education for Protection of Health and Environment, 7) Education of the Civic People for Their Constitutional Rights, 8) The Place of Education for Increasing the Civilian’s Activity in the Elections, 9) Introducing Worldwide Civil and Democratic Values to Young Generation in Schools, 10) The Education Work to Keep Baku Clean, 11) The Factor of Transport for Pollution of Air in Baku, 11) Factor of Press in Enlightement of Population in the Regions, 12) Education of Civic Rights, 13) The Prophilactics of Tuberculousis and Malaria Diseases in Refugee Tents, 14) Study of Tranzit Migrations and about the Status of Migrated Refugees, 15) Study of Consequences Caused by the Migration of Young Generation from the Regions, 16) Increasing the Activity of Refugees, IDPs and Students in the Elections etc.

            The project called «The Dialogue on Problems of Ethnic Minorities» won the grant program of British Embassy on the 7-th of March 2000. The program is now being implemented. On 25 and 26-th of March the Foundation held a seminar in Lenkoran with participation of 45 people on the subjects of «The Root of Ethnic Conflicts and the Reasons causing them» and «The Ways of Prevention of Ethnic Conflicts». On 31-st of March and 1-st of April the Foundation held another seminar in Guba on the mentioned subjects. The seminar was due to be held in Gusar, but our representatives were arrested there in Mr. Ikram Amirov's study, who is a head of Executing Power of Gusar district. Mr. Ikram Amirov made our representatives arrested and insulted them with swear words. After this, we were obliged to arrange it in Guba. Two more seminars to be held in Baku on the same subjects. At the end of the project one book containing useful information on the said problems will be printed and distributed amongst the organizations, NGOs and population.

THE AIMS AND DUTIES OF THE FOUNDATION ARE: Education and protection of human rights, increasing the civilian activity, free elections, free speech, free press, study of culture of ethnic groups and protection of their rights, social initiatives, working with the disadvantaged class of society etc.

Information about the President of Foundation : Razi Nurullayev was born on first of April 1971 in Imishli, Hkalfali village, Azerbaijan. In 1997 graduated from the English-French faculty at Azerbaijan State University of Languages. He worked for a long time in American and European oil and gas companies. At present he works in Baku Steel Company. Razi has a good command of English, Russian, Azeri and good knowledge of French and German languages.
